about

Linda Smith's and Peter Hatch's scores which Oswald entitled, respectively, 'Catlin' (originally titled 'Claude Lune') and 'Hatchling' (originally 'Lunar Variations') are two of a half dozen pieces Oswald subcontracted to composers he admired to comprise a suite based on Debussy's Clair de Lune, which in various forms, in piano and ensemble versions were sprinkled through his soundtrack for a Bill T Jones choreographed ballet for the Lyon Opera commemorating the centenary of the cinematic accomplishments of the Méliès brothers.
Oswald recently created this composite mix and revision of the ensemble version (recorded in Lyon) and the piano version recorded to a disklavier upright in Lyon and to audio on a disklavier grand at mLAB in Toronto.
this version has been incorporated in this dance video he concocted in 2004: youtu.be/IcMwmXx_byk
